How To Draw a Cat Head 🐱: Step-by-Step Tutorial

Hi, I’m Ophelia Loom from Art of Pencil, and today we are going to create something adorable together! Let’s draw a beautiful feline friend in pencil using just eight simple stages. Grab your favorite sketchbook, find a comfortable spot, and let the creativity flow!

Cat Drawing Tutorial 🐱

Step 1: The Main Circle

Draw a large, light circle right in the center of your paper. This simple geometric shape forms the solid foundation for the head.

Step 2: Adding the Ears

Sketch two small, neat triangles resting on top of your starting circle. These will become our cute, alert ears!

Step 3: The Nose

Right in the middle of the face area, draw a tiny upside-down triangle. It is the perfect shape for a little nose.

Step 4: The Muzzle

Draw two small curved lines swooping downward and outward from the bottom tip of the nose. This immediately creates a sweet smile and distinct muzzle.

Step 5: Eye Outlines

Place two smooth oval shapes on either side of the nose. Keep them nice and symmetrical to give our furry friend a happy, balanced expression.

Step 6: Pupil Details

Add a straight vertical line inside each of the ovals. This subtle detail instantly gives the eyes that classic, recognizable feline look.

Step 7: Whiskers

Draw three long, sweeping lines outwards from each side of the muzzle area. Whiskers add wonderful character and bring the whole face to life!

Step 8: Final Outline

Trace over your favorite pencil lines to create the final, clean outline. Gently erase any extra, underlying sketch marks to reveal your finished masterpiece.

Keep Practicing! ✏️

You did a wonderful job following along, and I truly hope you love your new sketch! Keep practicing these basic shapes every day, and soon you will be drawing all sorts of amazing animals with confidence.
